Dr. Popoola with Mukarabe, Emery (crutches) and other members of the family refugee group

Emery (with crutches) is the boy shot in both legs during the political unrest in Burundi in June 2015. During the medical mission at Bombo Pentacostal Church, organized by Peninsula Community Church, Dr. Popoola took him under his medical wings and provided desperately needed care for him. We are so grateful for his work, not just for our group, but for thousands of Ugandans who have flocked to the medical mission. Many lives were saved, not just physically, but spiritually as well.

Mukarabe has worked tirelessly to provide leadership, coordination, encouragement and connections to the refugee crisis. In Dr. Popoola's own words: "Mukarabe is doing such a fantastic job trying to get the Burundi family members settled, every one is impressed with her aggressiveness and determination."

She will be back in the US on Friday September 4th, after completing the paperwork on the governmental level to assure a better future for our refugees. Please continue to pray for a better future for all refugees. We know the issue of refugees in the world is complex, but if there is an attitude we should foster, it is compassion!
